FILM Armandino e il Madre

Synopsis
Cast
In the heart of Naples, with its narrow streets of centuries-old buildings, as well as one or two unauthorised constructions, is MADRE, the Museum of Contemporary Art, housed in the historical Palazzo Donnaregina. One the one hand there is the silence of the Museum, on the other the washing hanging out to dry and the sounds of a constantly bustling city. The contrast is strong, the opposites coexist one beside the other. Armandino is a real Napolitan street urchin, even if his family has Romany origins. For him the Museum is partly home and partly a playground. He has been running around those large rooms since he was very small. His older brother Roberto is also quite well-known amongst the girls who work at MADRE. He is clever, sharp and good-looking. Everyone calls him the “gypsy”. Sara, recently graduated from university and passionate about contemporary art, is specialised in restoration and maintenance of the works of art. She has been working at MADRE for a few months. Sara and Roberto like each other but sometimes they have misunderstandings. Young Armandino - with excellent business flair - offers to act as a go-between in exchange for payment by his brother. In a whirl of places, made even more fascinating by the installations of the museum’s contemporary artists, the love story between Sara and Roberto takes place. Like a modern Puck, to the rhythm of a minuet, young Armandino directs the two lovers, enchants them with his invented language and with his charm, causing tiffs and then getting them to make up, knowing very well how to fuel the love between Sara and Roberto and how to fill his wallet.
